Discover a hidden culinary gem at the Mongolian Hot Grill, nestled in the heart of Whittier, California. This delightful stop offers an authentic Mongolian barbecue experience that invites diners to embrace the tradition of crafting their own meals, ensuring each plate is a personal masterpiece.

As you step into this cozy eatery located at 11517 Carmenita Rd, you are greeted with the invigorating aroma of marinated meats and fresh toppings sizzling on the grill. The atmosphere carries a charming mom-and-pop feel, perfect for food enthusiasts looking for something unique and homemade. While seating may be limited, the environment is warm and welcoming, encouraging guests to soak in the lively cooking process while they wait.

The menu is straightforward yet brimming with possibilities. Build your own bowl by selecting from an array of proteins, including juicy meats and a colorful assortment of vegetables. Tantalizing sides like Fried Wontons and Spring Rolls enhance the experience, turning a casual meal into a feast. Pair your dish with a thirst-quenching Arizona drink or a refreshing Can Drink and you're set for a satisfying outing.

But what truly stands out about Mongolian Hot Grill are its flavorful offerings and the chance to customize your meal. Customer reviews echo a common sentiment; folks rave about the delicious food and generous portions that surpass expectations. One visitor, Benjamin Sandoval, enthusiastically noted, “the food has all the feeling of your favorite Mongolian spot but with way more ingredients.” Whether you prefer an extra helping of vegetables or a bold choice of marinades, the decision is entirely in your hands—making each visit a new adventure.

However, some patrons have mentioned that the restaurant's cleanliness could use a little polishing. As Raphael Ramirez pointed out, the toppings bar may seem slightly messy, prompting questions about overall hygiene. Yet, despite this minor criticism, many still highlight the freshness of the ingredients and the unique experience of grilling your chosen items.

For newcomers, it’s important to note the restaurant’s hours can vary, and it’s advisable to check ahead—especially if you're planning to visit right at opening. Maria Camacho’s experience emphasizes the need for patience, as the staff tries to maintain quality with a limited crew. Her glowing review of the food portion sizes suggests it's all worth the slight wait.

In summary, Mongolian Hot Grill is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience where culinary creativity flourishes. Ideal for casual outings or a quick bite, this spot promises a vibrant and satisfying meal. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-timer, be prepared to leave with a full belly and perhaps even a new favorite dish.

The food was pretty good but the restaurant was a little dirty, nothing crazy. Sitting is limited. Overall I do recommend and will return.

I found this spot on Yelp as one of the few standalone Mongolian restaurants. It has a mom and pops feel to it but trust me once you eat your food your going to be mad at yourself for not discovering it earlier. It's in a low-key shopping center with a supermarket conveniently located nearby. The food - it has all the feeling of your favorite mongolian spot but with way more ingredients and more variation. Put as much as you want or as little of whatever topping you want. They give you a side of rice too!? Try them. Trust me. Give them a try. Don't let the average ratings fool you. This place is everything but average! I don't give 5 Star ratings often so when I do you know it means something. Note: the customer service is great too! Update: typing this April 30, 2021. The remodeling oh my god! I love it! The food is still tasty and everything above still applies! They have digital menus, tables, new signage inside with new tile, and another veggie cart thing. My favorite part of the experience still? The customer service. The staff. So polite. So kind. So welcoming. It makes you really want to go back each time. I continue to recommend this place!!! More than ever!!!

This was my 1st time here. I had seen a reel on Instagram, and I came to check it out since I live 10 minutes away. Google maps says that they open at 11 a.m. They don't open till after 2 p.m. but closer to 3 pm because they're short staff food was delicious and food portions are bigger than what we normally get at the mall FYI, you do have to pour your own ingredients they have directions on the wall, unfortunately. I didn't see that till after I had served myself, just heads up

So check this out… I love the concept of having to choose your meat ,than move on to choosing your toppings until the bowl is overfilled . However; the toppings bar gets pretty messy and it makes you second guess if this place is really clean. We enjoyed the food being fresh out the grill. Great place to try.

This place is a little gem in South Whittier. Bomb noodles made with veggies of choice and plenty of meat. Last time it was cash only so please have cash on hand before you order. It's a simple hole in the wall with a couple seats but you can smell the food cooking.
